Spotlight on Recruitment - Entertainment Programme
This summer, as Scott Murkin returned to the English shores to reunite with friends and family, he continued his journey of seeking unique employment experiences. Lucky for us, he found a place here at Exsportise Summer Schools, where he played the role of an Events Manager.
"I never imagined when I embarked on my funemployment journey that I'd be delving into the dynamic world of events management. Yet, here I was, coordinating 6 weekly entertainment programmes for around 150 spirited international teenagers," Scott reminisces.
But it wasn’t merely about entertainment management, Exsportise life is underpinned by the "True Me" philosophy. It revolved around imparting three cardinal values to our students: authenticity, resilience, and teamwork. "Incorporating these values into our summer curriculum resonated deeply with me," he explains. "They became instruments that allowed our students to discover more about themselves and learn from their peers."
The True Me philosophy takes centre stage, underpinning all aspects of life at camp. Cultivating personal growth and developing social skills in a kind and respectful environment that fosters greater self-confidence, authenticity, and mutual respect for others.

The experiences and insights Scott gathered during his past year of travel armed him with the necessary tools and understanding to shape our camp's environment. He adds, "My travel journeys, filled with diverse experiences and personal growth, felt like a training ground for this summer's responsibilities."
And while Exsportise was a significant part of Scott's summer, it wasn't the only highlight. He also got the fantastic opportunity to work at his all-time favourite festival - the Download Festival. And if that wasn't adventurous enough, Scott also sported a pirate hat and played the role for a day!
For many, work is a means to an end. But for Scott, it's an evolving journey. "Work continues to dominate a significant part of my life narrative," he says. "But what’s changing is my perspective on work-life balance. It's all about enjoying the process, engaging in what resonates with one's passion, and ensuring there’s ample fun along the way."
