Why Sports Camp?
When most people think of summer camp, various arts, crafts and other activities may come to mind. But sports can be an integral part of a child's development, and many parents are realizing that belonging to a team and working with peers are great skills to also combine with learning English during that down time over the long summer. Sports are also incredible fun for participants and observers alike, and playing sports at a sports camp can teach things that you can't. learn or experience elsewhere.
But it's not just limited to sports camp, there are also music summer camps, dance camps and camps with other activities that can inspire your child to greatness, or at least to have a great time during a summer where they'd largely be sitting around doing nothing anyway. Sports, music, dance and other activities all promote crucial concepts such as hard work, responsibility and working together as a team, and they can also represent a great way to get and stay in shape all while keeping their English tutoring front of mind.
Here are some additional benefits from sending your child to a sports camp in the UK:
Increase health and fitness. If nothing else, sports camp will help your child increase their level of health and fitness. According to the World Health Organization, children should spend at least 60 minutes playing outdoors, yet many spend their time playing video games and interacting on social media. A multi sports camp can help flip the script and get your child back into more reasonable and healthy levels of activity.
Learn technique and skills. From music camp for kids to sport summer camps in the UK, your child will learn valuable skills and techniques that can last a lifetime, even if they're not interested in pursuing the higher levels of their chosen activity or sport. For example, our football sports camp features coaches from the Arsenal Football Club, all our instruction is done by accomplished professionals and educators in each space.
Learn responsibility and develop a work ethic. For many children, sport is the first place where teamwork, responsibility and a work ethic really starts to matter. From scheduling to workshops and matches, sports camp teaches the self-discipline that matters in life, even if they choose not to pursue a given sport further down the line.
Social skills and communication. Since most children come to sports camp without knowing anyone, they're forced to make friends fast and connect with their peers as they refine their sports skills or other skills and techniques required for their chosen activity. They'll also be working closely with others on teams or in small groups where they'll have to communicate to get the most out of themselves and their teams.
A great way to practice their English language skills. Attending a sports camp where they are also learning English means that they get even more opportunity to practice their English speaking skills; and to do so in an enjoyable environment where they can have fun and practice English all at the same time. This means they learn faster and the learning sticks!
